This Vintage Dealer Wore Three Stunning Archival Looks At Her Intimate New York Wedding

The proposal came this summer when Marie and Marek were enjoying a break in the countryside in upstate New York. “It was the perfect setting for a proposal,” Marie says, describing how they were surrounded by trees. The engagement ring, too, had extra significance. “Marek’s grandmother passed away a few months ago, and his mum really wanted us to have her ring,” the bride explains. “It was a beautiful way to celebrate Marek’s grandmother.”

Newly engaged, the couple quickly decided they wanted to get married later that summer. “We just wanted something very relaxed,” the bride, who has since moved to New York, says. Following the intimate ceremony, the pair hosted a picnic in Prospect Park – with Marie changing into a Dolce & Gabbana spring/summer 1991 jacket. “It’s my favorite jacket,” she says. “I got inspired by girls I see everyday in the neighborhood and paired it with biker shorts, and also Tom Ford by Gucci mules and vintage Versace sunglasses.”

In the evening, the bride and groom hosted guests at Gran Torino, a bar in Brooklyn, where friends took it in turns to DJ – playing disco, ’80s pop and ’90s hip-hop and R&B. For her party look, Marie opted for a Thierry Mugler jacket from spring/summer 1989, which she wore as a dress. “My mum wore Mugler at her wedding celebration, so I was inspired by her,” Marie explains. “1989 was the year I was born so it was just like ‘Of course, that’s the dress.’”

Next summer, Marie and Marek plan to have another celebration with their families, but for now, the wedding day was a true reflection of who they are as a couple. “It was super fun and really laid back,” the bride says. “The day was beautiful.”
