Sheryl K. (Klingenberg) Colby was born June 26, 1947, in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Claus and Alma (Bowen) Klingenberg. She attended public school in George, Iowa, and graduated in 1965. On Nov. 11, 1966, Sheryl was united in marriage to Arvid Colby at Zoar Presbyterian Church in George, Iowa. Theirs was the first wedding to take place in this church. The couple made their home on a farm near Granada, Minn., where they were blessed with three daughters: Molly, Amy, and Karri. Sheryl passed away just twelve days shy of their 56th wedding anniversary. Sheryl was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. After years of helping Arvid on the farm along with raising her family, Sheryl decided to earn her LPN nursing degree at the age of 55. She devoted her time to her nursing career at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont where she was a mentor to many new nurses through the years. Sheryl worked until recently when her health prevented her from continuing to care for others. When she wasn’t busy at work, Sheryl enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, gardening, and cake-baking along with reading and doing some online shopping. She most loved the time she was able to spend with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Arvid Colby of Granada, Minn.; daughters, Molly Hanson of Rochester, Minn., Amy (Tom) Mueller of Seymour, Wis., and Karri (Sheldon) Landeis of Mandan, ND; 8 grandchildren, Christopher (Beth) Hanson, Cameron (Chelsey) Hanson, LeAnn Hanson, Brady, McKenna, and Madison Mueller, and Ellie and Abby Landeis; 5 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jace Hanson, and Lovey, Khloe, and Colter Hanson; siblings, Lavanda (Madonna) Klingenberg, Margaret (Bob) Schwab, Ivan (Lois) Klingenberg, Arlen (Kim) Klingenberg, Thelma (Tim) Yager, Brenda (Daryl) VanOort, and Robert (Josie) Klingenberg; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Claus and Alma Klingenberg, Sheryl was preceded in death by her brothers, Willard Klingenberg, Douglas Klingenberg, and David in infancy; great-grandson, Calder Hanson; and angel grand-babies.
