Emily Ratajkowski Rushed Into Marriage Within Weeks Of Dating

Their marriage may be in ruins now, but Emily used to feel confident in her relationship with Sebastian. So much so, the couple tied the knot within only a few weeks of dating. In February 2018, the model announced on Instagram that she married Sebastian in a City Hall ceremony in New York.

Emil had gotten out of a four-year relationship with Jeff Magid when she was spotted with Sebastian shortly after, only for the couple to tie the knot in a surprise ceremony weeks later.

“I got married today,” she wrote alongside an image of her new husband kissing her cheek. The newlyweds both wore simple gold bands, but Sebastian also had two other rings on his hand that spelled “EM” and “RATA,” a reference to his wife’s nickname.

Of her decision to elope, Emily explained in April 2018, “We decided we were going to get married in January and then we were kind of waiting for the right moment. It’s one of those things [where] you have to choose one witness and we couldn’t just choose one of our friends, so then we were like, which friends can be there?”

She continued, “I can’t even imagine what having a 300-person wedding is like, because it still felt kind of hectic to plan ours.”

The model said she went to great lengths to keep the wedding under wraps from the media, so she could later announce it on her own terms.

“It felt very ‘heist movie,’ because all of my girlfriends were in suits, too, and I wasn’t wearing white, so I kept passing the bouquet of flowers to them, like, ‘Decoy, decoy!'” she said .

However, within a few hours, the model says her publicist informed her the news had leaked to the press thanks to public record. This prompted Emily to share about the nuptials online. “At the time I was like, ‘But I was wearing a hat?!’ My publicist was like, ‘First of all, it’s public record.’ I was convinced that everyone thought [my friend] Josh was going to get married,” she explained.

Emily said she FaceTimed her parents before sharing the news on social media.

Why Did Emily Ratajkowski And Sebastian Bear-McClard Get A Divorce?

Sebastian and Emily had what appeared to be a few years of bliss. The couple welcomed a son, Sylvester Apollo Bear, in March 2021. “Sylvester Apollo Bear has joined us earth side. Sly arrived 3/8/21 on the most surreal, beautiful, and love-filled morning of my life,” she wrote in an Instagram announcement.

However, only a year later, allegations rocked the couple. Emily was first spotted without her wedding ring in February 2022, prompting break-up rumors. Then, in July 2022, the Instagram account Deux Moi (known for exposing salacious celebrity gossip) made a post that seemingly accused Emily’s husband of infidelity.

“A reliable source [claims] […] a model’s husband is cheating on her with a waitress at a bar near where they live,” the post said. Instantly, the comments lit up with speculation that it was a reference to Emily and Sebastian’s marriage.

Shortly after, multiple reports came out reporting that the couple were estranged amid the allegations. “They split recently. It was Em’s decision,” a source told PEOPLE. “She is doing okay. She is strong and focused on her son. She loves being a mom.”

Another inside told Page Six, “Yeah, he cheated.” He’s a serial cheater. He’s a dog.”

It didn’t take Emily long to move on after the rumors emerged. Photos published in August 2022 showed movers taking furniture and boxes out of the condo. By September, it was reported that the model had filed for divorce.

A source told Us Weekly that she was refusing to talk directly to Sebastian. Anything co-parenting related was communicated through their nanny.

“She isn’t speaking to him because of him [alleged] infidelity, he isn’t speaking to her because he feels she was checked out of their relationship for the last year,” they said. “She got an apartment downtown to get away from her ex and start her new life. They’re only speaking to each other through the nanny.”

They added, “She isn’t speaking to him because of his infidelity, he isn’t speaking to her because he feels she was checked out of their relationship for the last year.”

The model hasn’t released an official statement on the break-up, but she has taken some subtle digs against Sebastian on social media. In one TikTok, she seemed to be referring to him in the caption as, “When he thinks he’s a 10 because he pulled you but you like ugly men.”

In another instance, fans noticed the model was liking tweets slamming her ex-husband.

Emily has been linked to a variety of men since the split, but it has not been confirmed if she’s officially dating someone new.
