A condominium apartment helped this couple get ready for a baby

After renting in Hackney for three years, Valeria Seculin, a retail assistant, and her partner, Juan Minh Huynh, a delivery driver, learned that they were expecting
their first child.

Keen to find a permanent home, time was of the essence to get up the property ladder.

“Once we found out we were expecting, we wanted more permanent roots for our growing family, but were worried the prices might be exorbitant,” explains 27-year-old Valeria.

The couple came across L&Q early on in their real estate search, and discovered the condominium through the Housing Association’s website.

“The location was a major selling point,” Valeria says. We don’t have a car, so it was important to be close to good transport links.

“We have Bexleyheath and Welling stations nearby, and a shopping mall, cinema and restaurants all just a few minutes’ walk away.

When I registered the interest, L&Q immediately contacted me to arrange a viewing. We went the next day to watch the show at home and booked there.

L&Q in the Eastside Quarter consists of one, two and three bed condominium homes in the heart of Bexley, near Danson Park on 200 acres and only 30 minutes by train from London Bridge.

Single-family pricing starts at £92,500 for a 25% share of £370,000 and three beds – similar to Valeria and Khoan’s home – from £147,500 for 25% of £590,000 from L&Q Homes.

They bought a 25% stake in their three-bed apartment, and although they were worried it wouldn’t be completed before their baby arrived, nothing to worry about.

“From the initial phone call until the day of the move, they were helpful and supported our request to make sure we could move before the baby arrived.”

The couple booked last April and moved into their home in July, before the birth of their son, Vincenzo, and couldn’t be happier with it.

“When we rented, we had a kitchenette, and now we have a beautiful open plan living area, which is a perfect social space for me to cook and watch the baby,” Valeria says.

“All of our appliances, like the fridge, oven and dishwasher, are brand new – it’s heaven! With shared ownership we can buy a three-bedroom home, which we couldn’t afford on the open market.
